Not Ready for Prime Time Players

One of the greatest things to come out of the 1970s was Saturday Night Live. The humor was so outrageous and seemed pretty risque for the time. I looked forward to watching it every week. I loved when Chevy Chase said "I'm Chevy Chase and you're not"-it cracked me up every time. I  must admit I had a bit of a crush on him. I also loved when Dan Aykroyd said "Jane you ignorant slut" to Jane Curtain during their weekend update. I always felt I was getting away with something when I watched it-it couldn't be legal! Sadly Gilda Radner and John Belushi are no longer with us, but the rest of the cast is still making me laugh.

An End of an Era

The soap opera All My Children which started in 1970 is coming to an end. ABC seems to think people no longer want soaps and would prefer a cooking show. Maybe they never heard of food network. Anyway I loved this show so much that I used to skip my high school classes to come home and watch it with my mom if something big was happening. She understood and would write me an excuse. I will never forget some of these characters. Erica was my favorite. I also loved the story line of Jenny and Jesse. I had a crush on Thad. Opal was so much fun to watch. It's too bad that all these characters will be forgotten and that soap operas will soon be a thing of the past.

Almost 50

I am fast approaching 50 and have been feeling so nostalgic for the "good old days". The seventies were such a simpler time. I remember playing outside most days and I lived in my roller skates. I see kids today worrying about social networking, cyber-bullying and how many minutes they have on their cell phone plan. Innocence is no more. I remember looking up the word sex in the school dictionary (and not being enlightened), but children today can see the nastiest pornography on the internet. My mom says the same thing about growing up in the fifties. Maybe the kids growing up today will remember these days as innocent and carefree. Just for fun, here is a blast from the past.
